HAZARDOUS WASTE RECOVERY
Some 4000 tons of spent pickling acid is generated every year during the surface treatment of iron elements. Pickling liquors are usually treated with alkali liquors that creates sludge to be disposed in hazardous waste dumps. The treatment also produces an amount of concentrated salt solution, which is not treated and therefore contaminates our waters.
Körte Zrt. used several years to develop the technology ensuring the processing and recovery of spent pickling liquors. We had been the only plant in the Hungarian market until 2010 to process hydrochloric waste pickling acid in compliance with the environmental regulations.
The plant transforms hydrochloric waste pickling acid into coagulant products used as wastewater treatment chemicals without generating any process wastewater or any load on the environment.
